Where Are You?
Audio / Produced by The High CallingTranscript
In the Garden of Eden, Adam sinned—then he hid. And God called, "Adam, where are you?"
Remember the game "hide and seek"? Mark Roberts, our director at Laity Lodge, hears echoes of that game in God's call.
Of course, God knows where we hide. God's question revealed Adam's hiding place to Adam. When God asked, "Where are you?" he was reaching out to Adam, seeking fellowship . . . even in the face of rebellion.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. God's questions have nothing to do with what he knows. They have everything to do with what we don't know. Calling "Where are you?", God woos us out of hiding—from him and from ourselves. Where are you? . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
